US to Defeat Iran ...with Light Bulbs (aka Fiddling While Rome Burns)

We live in an age of insanity. Here we have the President of the US -- when North Korea is exporting nuclear technology and Iran is developing it, when Chavez is threatening to intervene in an explosive Honduran coup, when the economy is teetering (we are told) -- the President of the US is telling us what kind of light bulbs to buy! He says we are going to save 4 billion dollars a year. Right. And inflating our automobile tires will do away with the need to drill for more oil. Can there be anything more pathetic? Or dangerous?

Can't Obama turn his attention to grown-up matters? Our president reminds me of nothing more than an infantile fingerpainter who has no sense either of sound judgment or awareness of consequence, but lives in a world of imagination untested by reality. No, I mistake. His utopia has been tested by reality time and time again, but like a babe in diapers, he has no experience with it -- or is criminally negligent in denying it.

Global Warming Hoax Outrages Engineers

In a flurry of letters to their trade group president, members of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), hurled invective and disdain at the association hierarchy for the self serving statements of political correctness made by their association's president, Wayne Klotz PE, concerning Global Warming aka "Climate Change".

Says member K Anderson "...I can’t believe you [ASCE President] as an intelligent person is being sucked into the fairytale of global warming..."

This should not be a foregone conclusion in the mind of any decent scientist. ~ J Greer

It is indeed a sad day when the figurehead of the foremost organization of my profession buys into the “sky is falling..or.. should I say the “seas are rising” hysteria. What does it say for “practical thinking and reasoning” we engineers are noted for when the leader of the ASCE spouts out this nonsense that has yet to be proven. This is an embarrassment to our profession. ~ P Purcell

For engineers to go along with this hoax is the biggest negligence I have ever seen. It is ALL about the money. Indeed there is Green (aka $$$$) in going green - THAT is why it is being pushed and supported as the latest emperor with no clothes. ~ A Koenig

Here is the link to the entire blog thread where you can read how rank and file engineers consider the global warming issue, essentially and overwhelmingly calling it a hoax and a sham made to order to make money and provide a basis for revenue extraction by an overweening government working in conjunction with industry.

Why Liberals Do Not Want Prayer in Schools

"I want the judiciary to ... punish leading rioters [against the 2009 election in Iran] firmly and without showing any mercy to teach everyone a lesson," Ahmad Khatami told worshippers at Tehran University."
~ From Rueters

I suspect that many who follow my blog are not going to like this post, but then again, this area is for equal opportunity bashing of incorrect ideas, and is my property, so here goes.

In short, the kind of religious zealotry that is found in the above statement has its seeds in ANY introduction of religion into government and indeed points out the dangers of doing so. Our worst nightmare is for religion to take over the government for when that happens we will see the various sects fighting for control so as to send the other to hell - and using government as a tool of oppression to do it - because they do not believe as the 'other" believes.

The business of government is administration, and NOT the business of the promulgation of mores. Yes, without mores the government will fail, but if by the time a person gets to government, religion has not affected them to give them morality, then there is no hope for any of us.

Religion belongs to religion and, just as government needs to stay out of religion, so too religion(ism) needs to stay out of the government - meaning that religion, if it has to use the government to embed itself into people so as to embed itself into the government, then we are all doomed.

Not to put too fine a point on it, do you want Mullah Ahmad Khatami to be the Senate majority leader? Then drop all the histrionics about prayer in public school, for if you do not stop, then eventually you may find that you prayers are required to be said in Arabic - because the government has told you so.

This, my friends is the real reason why liberals do not want prayer in public (government)schools.

Obama to Ration Health Care

From Good Morning America, 24 June

OBAMA: The measure of the quality of care is not quantity, but whether or not it is making you better. What we've said is, let's put out the research, let's study and figure out what works and what doesn't.

SAWYER: Will there be a board making Solomonic decisions about best practices --

OBAMA: What I've suggested is is that we have a -- a commission that helps -- made up of doctors, made up of experts, that helps set best practices.

Hey Obama - Cato speaking here - we already have someone to determine best practices. It's called your family doctor and his team of specialists. What does a committee know about the best way to treat me? What you really want is someone to ration and distribute "best practices - someone to determine the best economy of practice (aka rationing/treatment delay tactics), not what is the best medical treatment practice.

There is no other reason for a higher "commission". Typical liberal, using words that say one thing, but meaning another. Tell you what. You tell me exactly what this commission will do, then we'll see if the American people want it.

Note from Boulder Colorado

Just spent a few days in Boulder, CO. Pretty City with plenty of Kool-Aid to go around. Here is an example. They have a beautiful downtown area called Pearl Street. Take a street with old buildings on either side, block off the traffic, put in brick pavers and plant trees, with few sculptures, etc and you get a very nice outood shopping park with musicians, jugglers, singers, artists ... and a few "beggars and street bums" thrown in for a little seasoning.

Here is the incident that made it all come together. I was walking along and a fellow who was lost asks me if I knew which way was Broadway. I said " I am from out of town too and I don't know either."

We continue walking and about 10 feet later we pass by a raggy looking dude with greasy hair and groody fingernails, sitting down near his backpack holding a sign " Homeless - Please Help".

As we pass by I pointed to this bum and told my fellow wanderer "Hey, why don't you ask that homeless guy ... the one sitting right there next to his $1,500 mountain bike. I bet he knows."

A Senior Moment

~ This was too good to pass up so I pass it along...

A very self-important college freshman attending a recent homecoming football game, took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen and his "Class of 1912" buddies sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.

"You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one !", the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. "The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon, our spaceships have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with DSL, BPS, light-speed processing .... and..." ... pausing to take another drink of beer.

The Senior took advantage of the break in the student's litany and said, "You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young, so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little shit, what are you doing for the next generation?"

The applause was amazing.

Health Care - Doing It the GM Way

~by Cato

"The insurance lobby won't be able to block a public health plan because most Americans realize they would be better off if the industry had competition, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Tuesday as congressional committees worked to shape legislation." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31387083/ns/politics-white_house/

Just consider what this sentence means. Is there not competition in the healthcare and healthcare insurance industry? How many companies are competing for my health insurance? As to being better off, it is the government that will be "better off" with health care competition and healthcare insurance eliminated by the proposed government take over.

It is just a typical obfuscating liberal lie "... that Americans realize they would be better off if the industry had competition". Does she mean that there is some other industry that can provide competition to the health care insurance industry? What, like we should have the steel industry give some competition to the health care industry? Does she mean that the rising costs of healthcare and its insurance come because there is a monopoly in the market? What lunacy! Of course there is a monopoly. Doctors have a monopoly on the doctor business and prevent auto mechanics from being doctors. Insurance companies have a monopoly on insurance and prevent grocery stores from being health insurers. Sheesh, it is exhausting just getting any liberal to engage in correct thinking and discussion.

Just imagine if she had said, "The market would be better off if there were more competition in providing automobiles." Duh, there already is "more competition" -- or was until the government decided to get into the car business. Now, you tell me whether the rising cost of GM cars was due to some car manufacturer's monopoly. No, it wasn't due to any such thing, it was due to bad decisions and (coincidentally for this discussion) union benefits and union required healthcare strangleholds -- and government interference.

And, the competition in the auto industry, had it been allowed to run its course, would have correctly driven out the bad businesses (GM) with their unsustainable practices and lowered prices. Instead the government plan will stifle competition by propping up unsustainable business practices.

This is exactly what she wants to do to healthcare. This latest collectivist plan will not encourage competition, but stifle it, for when the government owns a means of production of providing health care, it actually reduces to the government owning THE entire means of production, because nobody in their right mind will enter the market to compete against it, because the government will ALWAYS protect its industry at the expense of those not in the club. And this is without reference to the administration's intent, well documented, to crush private insurance and take over the industry.

As to what is the real end game (and it is not providing health insurance), I will leave it to Seneca to reveal in one of his later illuminating posts.

Saying "NO" to Fairness

This about says it all. So, next time you pass by that bum out on the intersection with one of those "Homeless - Need Help" signs, roll down your window and ask him what he is proposing to do for you in exchange for your help.

You know, lazy people think that they have a claim on your money and people "in need" think that their need constitutes a requirement for YOU cure such neediness. (That is why the term "in need" is bandied about nowadays - because it is code for "and somebody else needs to do something about it.) Indeed, they demand payment of their claim on you. My advice - refuse to accept "the claim" and call them out on it.

In this vein, I walked by one of these bums on the street one day and after he accosted me, I continued walking by ignoring him. He started shouting after me "What, you do not have to listen to me" (False Claim #1 - that I am supposed to listen). I turned on my heel and went back to him and said "You are wanting money from me, so what are you going to give me in return? Are you going to shine my shoes or wash my car window??? What???"

He glared at me with a malevolent eye and said "I don't gotta do nothing for you". (False Claim #2)

To which I replied "Nor do I gotta do nothing for YOU". (True Claim)

Always Remember - What's yours is YOURS - not theirs , and the "theys" have absolutely NO claim, moral or otherwise, on your - or your property.

Self-appointed Faith Leader of all the world's religions, and
Chief Administrator of America 's Healthcare System.

* actually he is most likely not a natural born citizen of the United States and, if not, then he is ineligible to the Presidency. Where is the real birth certificate? Why is it not being produced?

Health Care-The New Berlin Wall

Guest Contribution
~ by Eric Meyer

Hello Friends,

Ten years ago I spent a few days in Berlin, Germany. In many areas, portions of the Berlin wall still stand marking the line that once divided Socialism from freedom. Erected in 1961, the wall was socialist Russia’s way of keeping their captive citizens from escaping to the free West Germany.

The Berlin wall stood for 28 years, until 1989 when portions of it were knocked down. The following year, East and West were legally united.

While the still standing sections of the Berlin wall are a reminder of Germany’s darker days, there are other reminders as well. When traveling through the areas once controlled by Socialist Russia it is impossible to avoid scenes of death and destruction. Some of East Berlin’s buildings, streets, homes, and infrastructure which were damaged or in some cased destroyed during World War II, were left in that condition by the Socialist government for 50 plus years.

These relics of the past are today’s reminders that Socialist governments do not function for the good of the people despite the Socialist politicians best efforts to convince citizens otherwise.

Today, Obama and his Socialist followers (primarily democrats) seek to repeat the evident failures of Socialist controlled East Berlin and Socialist Russia.

Never has there been a Socialist government which has delivered to its citizen’s greater financial prosperity, better health, more freedom, or safety. In fact, the historical record indicates that in all of these areas, the opposite is true.

One of Obama’s many goals is to convert our freedom of choice healthcare system to one which will be controlled by the federal government. To the uneducated masses, this sounds like a good thing. However, I ask this simple question, “Has there ever been a government social program which has worked as promised, work efficiently, or saved money?” The answer of course is not just “no”, but “HELL NO.”

Socialized Healthcare is the equivalent of a new Berlin Wall which will force higher taxes on those who work, limit the patient’s option to choose their physician or treatment plan, slow down research and development of new cures, dissuade students from studying medicine thus lowering the number of doctors, and discourage capital investment in healthcare.

If we are to save the world’s best healthcare system from Socialist ruin, we must act quickly. We must understand the implications of “Change” and work to educate others.

Keith Hennessey provides a well written list itemizing the details of the proposed Socialist healthcare program.

I encourage you to view the list on Keith’s website and to also encourage as many of your friends as possible to do the same. If not for us, but for our children and grandchildren, we must save America from the disasters of Socialism.

Obama Encourages Muslim Pilot Training

"On education, we will expand exchange programs, and increase scholarships, like the one that brought my father to America. At the same time, we will encourage more Americans to study in Muslim communities. And we will match promising Muslim students with internships in America; invest in online learning for teachers and children around the world; and create a new online network, so a young person in Kansas can communicate instantly with a young person in Cairo." ~ Obama on his World Apology Tour 6/2009

Couple points here

#1 - Oh, yeah, we and Britain have had such great success with Muslim students ... especially training them to fly jetliners and read subway and bus schedules.

#2 - No Thanks. I do not think we need to bring any more people over like your father so that they can impregnate our citizens and then leave the mother and the taxpayer holding the bag, after you head back to Africa

#3 - Great- Just what we need, a jihadist in Kansas City being able to communicate instantly (think atomic bomb flash kind of instantaneously) with a young person (aka jihadist terrorist) in Cairo!

#4 - I do not want nor do I need any "exchange" - except my money for their oil. We have done just fine for 200 years or more without such "exchange"as Obama speaks of. In this vein, I have an absolute right to refuse entry of whomever I like into my house (aka my country). Sheesh - even this concept is known by Arabs and that is why they do not say to all the Baptists, Catholics, "Sure, Come on Over"

#5 - On ".... we will encourage more Americans to study in Muslim communities". Didn't that Walker guy, you know, the one we found embedded with the Taliban, train in Muslim Country?

#6 - On "... match[ing] promising Muslim students with internships in America". What, now we are gonna have Affirmative Action for Muslims?

Reagan and the anti-Reagan

I'll let you decide who said which:

"The men of Normandy had faith that what they were doing was right, faith that they fought for all humanity, faith that a just God would grant them mercy on this beachhead or on the next. It was the deep knowledge--and pray God we have not lost it--that there is a profound, moral difference between the use of force for liberation and the use of force for conquest. You were here to liberate, not to conquer, and so you and those others did not doubt your cause. And you were right not to doubt. . . . . I tell you from my heart that we in the United States do not want war. We want to wipe from the face of the Earth the terrible weapons that man now has in his hands. And I tell you, we are ready to seize that beachhead. We look for some sign from the Soviet Union that they are willing to move forward, that they share our desire and love for peace, and that they will give up the ways of conquest. There must be a changing there that will allow us to turn our hope into action."
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=26866

...........
"We, live, in a world, of competing, beliefs - and claims, about, what is, true. It’s a world, of varied religions, and cultures, and forms, of government . . . . The, nations,,,, th,at joined, together to defeat, Hitler’s, reich, were not, perfect. They, made their share, of mistakes,,,, had , not always agreed, with one another, on every issue. But whatever God we prayed to . . . we knew, that the evil,, we, faced, had: to; be stopped.” http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=32181

You know , one of our presidents demanded that the Soviets give up the ways of conquest. Will the other make a similar demand of Islam? Or do they have merely “competing beliefs and claims about what is true”?

Blame Bush

Obama Wants the United States to Fail

Here is Obama, giving one of his daily pronouncements, this time in Egypt:

"Given our interdependence, any world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will inevitably fail." Found at: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/23334_Page2.html

**************************************
Here is the commentary on this inane statement of Obama's ...

Is there no shame in this guy Obama, that he can say such things with a straight face? Any ordering of the world that does not allow that [elevation] to happen naturally will be an order that crushes liberty and crushes enterprise. The very thing that all the "less elevated" countries have is less freedom. And it seems a little naive to think that you, Mr Obama, can alter the world order, except by making the united States a ward of your new order where we all live in shared poverty and misery.

Want to bring this into focus? Apply the same maxim to individuals. Yep, that's what Obama is trying to do to us -- make sure no one has any more than anyone else, by taking away from some who have rightfully earned more, and give that excess to others who have not. Of course the decision as to what constitutes too much will be made on careful reflection while jetting to NY so as to attend dinner and a play all while talking about how America is arrogant. Ah yes, indeed it is true that "All Pigs Are Equal... Except that Some Pigs are More Equal Than Others."

By the way, Barak Hussein Obama, you are not the president of the world. Of course, I can see how you might think you are, since you identified yourself as a citizen of the world, not the United States. You sir, are instead, a sociopath of sorts, who just like Ted Bundy was all smiles and sincerity ....... up till the moment his victim was irrevocably ensnared.

It's finally clear to me -- Obama, you do not want America to be great. To you, any greatness is oppression, any advantage is wrong per se. I had not wanted to believe this of you, but I cannot deny it now. You are angry and have a chip on your shoulder - (In some places they call this "having a bug up your ass")

You simply do not understand that America is economically and politically influential (and is great), not because of oppression, but because of freedom and its founding values.

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day. As they walk, they come across a sign: "Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world."

"I am entering!" said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd you do?" " First Place !," said Snow White.

They continue walking and they see a sign: "Contest for the strongest man in the wor ld." "I'm entering," says Superman. After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?" " First Place ," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?"

They continue walking when they see a sign: "Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?" "I'm entering," says Pinocchio.

After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes. "What happened?" they asked.

"Who the hell is Nancy Pelosi?" asked Pinocchio.
